Seeraha(Borama)
Nestled in the middle of the city, battling loss of green life from encroachment on one end and trash dumping on another, there is one piece of land in Boorama that brings hope and joy — not hope for food or survival, but hope for leisure, for play. In developing cities and countries, one can often lose the joy in the world of giving aid in the usual development sense. The answer to fostering life and bettering well-being does not only lie with endless development and building, but with a balance. So, right in the middle of the city — this is Seeraha: a historic, serene piece of land with significant meaning to Boorama residents. While arguments can be made advocating for a development or multiple to buy the land and strip her for parts, it is imperative to preserve the last remaining public space in Boorama.
The Awdal Development Fund, along with the residents of the city, would like to save Seeraha from being sold and developed. As this land used to be a beautiful park, the vegetation still runs patterns of deep roots, claiming parts of Boorama history with stories shared and passed down of ancient hunting and relaxing strolls. We want to preserve this land, clean up her outskirts, and lay down a boundary, protecting Seeraha from any further encroachment. The land has already been stripped down to just a small part of what it used to be. We are on a mission to save what is left. The ADF aims to turn this land back into a park — complete with a children’s play area, walking paths, and benches. Boorama deserves a patch of green. Help us bring life back into the city.
